Daylight Drama as Armed Thugs Attack and Rob Israeli Tourists Vacationing in Cape Coast

Two Israeli tourists on holiday in Ghana were attacked and robbed by suspected thugs while returning to their hotel in Cape Coast over the weekend.

The shocking incident has raised fresh concerns about the safety of foreign visitors in the country’s major tourist towns.

According to eyewitness accounts, the women were accosted late on Saturday evening by two unidentified men as they walked back from visiting a popular beach in Cape Coast.

The suspects allegedly threatened them before snatching their handbags and valuables. One of the victims suffered a cut on her hand during the scuffle and was left in pain and distress.

Passersby who heard the commotion quickly came to the women’s aid and reported the matter to the police. Officers rushed to the scene and began an immediate search for the suspects, though no arrests had been made at the time of reporting.

The injured tourist was taken to a local hospital, where she received treatment and was later discharged.

Officials say the incident has been reported to the Israeli Embassy in Accra, which has since provided support to the two women and maintained close contact with Ghanaian authorities.

The embassy expressed confidence that the police will investigate thoroughly and ensure justice is served.

This is not the first time tourists in Ghana have fallen victim to such attacks. Residents recall a similar case in Accra earlier this year, when a foreign visitor was robbed of personal belongings in broad daylight by a gang of motorbike riders.

Police managed to trace and arrest the culprits in that incident, reassuring the public of their commitment to protecting both citizens and foreigners.

Security experts note that while Ghana remains one of West Africa’s most peaceful destinations, isolated cases of robbery can tarnish the country’s image if not addressed quickly.

Tourism operators in Cape Coast have urged the police to increase patrols around popular sites, especially at night, to prevent further incidents.

As investigations into the latest robbery continue, the Ghana Police Service has appealed to the public for information that could help track down the suspects.

Authorities have also reminded tourists to exercise caution, avoid isolated areas at night, and use trusted transport when moving around.
