According to a report by YEN on Monday, May 25, 2026, three graduates from the University of Ibadan have become the talk of social media after earning First Class honours in their various courses.
Their inspiring stories touched many people online, with several users praising their hard work, sacrifice and determination.
One of the graduates, Adekola Fathia, completed her studies in Adult Education with excellent results despite facing serious financial challenges during her time in school. According to her, there were moments she did not have a smartphone to support her studies.
Because of this, she often borrowed phones from friends and classmates to complete assignments, attend online activities and do research work.
Fathia explained that she nearly lost hope after gaining admission because she feared her family could not support her education financially.
However, she remained focused and worked hard until she successfully completed her programme with a First Class degree.
Another graduate, Oluwatosin Favour Ausi, also earned First Class honours from the Faculty of Nursing.
Apart from her excellent academic performance, she received an award for academic excellence during her graduation ceremony.
She revealed that her nursing programme, which was expected to last five years, eventually took seven years before completion.
Despite the delay, she stayed determined and never gave up on her dream of becoming a successful nurse.
The third graduate, Assumpta Oluomachukwu Nwakile, graduated with a First Class degree in Pharmacy. She also received several awards for her outstanding performance in school.
Assumpta shared that balancing academics with business activities was not easy. While studying Pharmacy, she was also running a fashion business to support herself.
At some point, the pressure affected her grades, but she remained committed to her studies and later improved her performance.
Many Nigerians who reacted to their stories on social media praised the three graduates for their resilience and discipline.
Others said their achievements should inspire students facing difficulties not to give up on their education and future dreams.
